Naming Ceremony of MV Usuki and MV Umea in China
In November 2025, the Mastermind Shipmanagement (MSM) team, accompanied by the families of the vessels’ Godmothers, travelled to China to attend the naming ceremony of the new 43K Blue Whale MPP Bulkers MV USUKI and MV UMEA. The occasion marked another important step in the continued expansion and modernization of the company’s fleet.
During the visit, the delegation met with several key project partners, including top management representatives from the Chinese Classification Society, and toured through key manufactures factories in Shandong Province to gain real insights into the advanced engineering and production processes supporting the construction of the vessels.
The program concluded at Huanghai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., where the official naming ceremonies took place, followed by a formal dinner celebrating the successful completion of is newbuilding stage.
Held in accordance with maritime tradition, the ceremony honored not only the vessels themselves but also the strong cooperation between all parties involved in the project. One of the highlights of the event was the exchange of commemorative gifts, with special appreciation given to the Godmothers of MV USUKI and MV UMEA for their important role in the ceremony and their warm and inspiring speeches.
In addition to the shipbuilding activities, the visit also provided the delegation with the opportunity to experience Chinese culture and history firsthand. The group visited several well-known landmarks, including the Forbidden City, attended a traditional Beijing Opera performance, and explored attractions across Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, and Weihai.
The visit celebrated the successful naming of MV USUKI and MV UMEA.
